Dr Richmond is a General Practitioner with a focused interest in menopause and midlife women's health. Her approach is structured and evidence-informed, recognising that symptoms often attributed to hormones may have multiple contributing factors and that thorough assessment comes before treatment.
Consultations are designed to allow time for detailed history, appropriate investigation and clear discussion of risk. Care is delivered over time with planned follow-up to ensure management remains appropriate as things change.
Our Approach
Menopause is a physiological transition that affects far more than reproductive hormones alone. Symptoms can overlap with thyroid dysfunction, metabolic change, mood disorders and other medical conditions.
Hormone therapy is one tool. When appropriate it is prescribed carefully, with clear discussion of benefits, risks and monitoring requirements. When it is not appropriate other strategies are explored.
Treatment decisions are made collaboratively, grounded in current evidence and your individual risk profile. Menopause care works best when it is reviewed and refined over time.
What to Expect
Every woman who comes to Pause Medical moves through a structured process. How long that takes and what each stage involves depends on you — your history, your investigations, your risk profile and what your body is doing. What does not change is the sequence.
Your first appointment is an in-depth conversation. We take a detailed symptom history, build your individual risk profile across cardiovascular, bone, breast and metabolic health, review your screening history and identify any investigations or imaging needed. Treatment decisions are not made at this visit. Getting the assessment right comes first.
Once investigations are back we sit down with the full picture. This is where your individual management plan is developed — what is appropriate for you, what the evidence says, what the risks and benefits are and what to expect. If hormone therapy is part of that plan it is prescribed here, with clear explanation and a monitoring framework in place.
Menopause care is not set and forget. Reviews at around three months allow us to assess how you are responding, adjust doses or approaches and make sure your management continues to fit your life as things change. The goal is stability — and getting there takes time done properly.
If you are looking for a prescription on your first visit, this model of care is not the right fit.
If you are looking for care that takes the time to get it right, you are in the right place.
